Week 3 & 4: Commenting on my Peer's Shots

Classmate #1: Chiara Junkroski
The first shot I commented on of Chiara's was her dolly shot. It was excellent considering we were unable to use a stabilizer. The setting was very pretty and it gave me the feeling that I was moving closer to the subjects. The second shot I commented on was the extreme close up. Chiara did a great job of finding the right lighting for this shot to bring out the details in Kelly's eye. The shot could have made a movie dramatic. The high angle shot was great as well. It gave the audience a feeling of power because we were "above" the action. The last shot I commented on of Chiara's was her extreme long shot. I especially like this shot because it was taken at the Grand Canyon, the perfect setting for an extreme long shot. I felt like I really got to know the setting.

Classmate #2: Renee Listrom
The first shot I commented on of Renee's was her extreme long shot. Like Chiara's, I liked that this shot was taken in a setting other than Lely High School. I also felt like I got to know the setting, but Renee's shot could have been better because the camera was not held very steadily. Renee's establishing shot was also great. I felt at peace due to the calm mood of the setting. It would be a great movie-opener. The tilt shot gave me more of a view of the setting than I would get from a typical eye level shot. Similar to and establishing shot, I felt like I also got to know the setting better. Lastly, Renee's point of view shot was amazing. These shots are very hard to take because Renee had to get both of her arms in her shot therefore having to have someone else film for her. She executed it perfectly and I felt like I was her in the shot.
