Robbery - Final Draft What did we change? I added "24 hours earlier..." once the robbery had started because the peer edits revealed to me that people were confused why the shot of the plane was at the beginning of the film and not the end. I changed the background of "An SSKC Film" because the plain black background did not look good enough to me. I added text when Kelsey's identity changed for clarification of what was going on because most people were confused about that part. 

What People Liked: I liked that it was suspenseful and interesting to watch. I like that the story eventually came together. Originally, I was confused about why there was a video of the plane, but the ending where the character went off walking toward a plane connected everything together.  I liked the opening airplane takeoff. It seemed like a valid video to insert the names of actors. I loved the very last transition, where the camera zoomed into Kelsey holding Saoirse's license, then when it zoomed out Saoirse was there. It was smooth, unique, and well done. I like how there was a mix of diegetic and non diegetic sound. I like how they mimicked actual film openings by stating "SSKC Prod" at the beginning and some opening credits with their names. I like how they attempted a plot line. I liked the plane landing. I liked the variety of shots and editing techniques seen.  I really liked how the beginning and end matched up, starting and then ending at the airport...

Robbery - Rough Draft

I completed the entire film opening by the end of week one, I just had to add in audio and sound effects. The picture above was taken when I uploaded our film opening to youtube.  Audio effects: I spent a good amount of time going through the free audio/sound effeect options on imovie until I realized that they don't have many that fit with an action/adventure movie, so I settled with my best option. I only put this song during the intro where I introduced my group members' names and when there were moments of silence during the action. I also added a banging noise when the title came up and at the end because I thought it added drama. Lastly, I added a footsteps sound effect at the beginning when the robbers where approaching the bank.  Amount of time: 1 hour People involved: Carson and Sarah

Title and font: We wanted the title of our movie to be short, preferably one word, so that it could have a bigger impact on the viewer. Therefore, we settled on the title "Robbed" as it gets right to the point about the plot of our movie. When editing the opening, I wanted the title to be bold and to take up most of the screen. Video effects/transitions: I tried to stay away from using video effects because I think they can look cheesy, but I used a couple transition effects towards the end. After Kelsey was talking to her mom, I used the "fade to white" effect because I thought it was a pretty transition to the airport scene. I also used "fade to black" after zooming in on Saoirse's drivers license because I thought it created a dramatic effect. Audio effects: *I put in audio on the second week* Problems: I still have a very hard time using premier pro, so after about an hour of trying to figure out how to use it again, I switched to imovie ...

My group filmed the beginning of our opening at school. This is when our main character will be walking to her car, leaving to drive to the bank. We decided that the best place to film this scene would be at school. My group began filming some aesthetic shots of nature around the school. These could fill in some empty spots in our opening. 

My group began the filming process last week. We were trying to decide on which airport we should film at, considering this will be the location of about a third of our opening. We visited the Marco Island Airport and decided against it. We decided filming at the Naples airport would be a better idea. My group also began looking at locations of our hiding scenes which will add suspense. We talked about filming these at school, but also decided against this idea. We all agreed that filming these hiding scenes at the bank would be the best idea.

Actors: We have not chosen the roles yet, but Saoirse, Kelsey, Carson, and I will all be in the film opening.  Costumes: Our bank robber will be wearing an all black outfit with a ski mask. The people who work at the bank will be wearing business casual outfits. Props: We're going to need a lot of fake money and a fake gun.  Locations: We're finding a way to film this in an actual bank. Saoirse's dad works at a bank so he may open it up us has for a little bit after closing. We will also be going tot the Naples Airport to record our bank robber fleeing the country. Dates and times: We will most likely be filming this weekend. The film will be set in modern day. Scripts: We aren't going to write scripts. We are going to talk about the ideas we want to get across and then go from there. Film Equipment: Saoirse owns a camera that we are going to use. 

We spent an entire period of class discussing what we wanted to make our action/adventure film opening about. We figured that we could make a bank robbery look really cool. The events of our film flows very well and don't suddenly cut off. I recommended that we have a getaway driver. I'm excited to finally start filming.

Rise I really enjoyed this film opening. The beat of the music went along with the different cuts and actions of the person in the film. I also liked how the title of the film was displayed largely across the screen. The fact that the music got louder when the camera was pointed towards the soccer player who was wearing headphones is also a cool concept. Offline I did not enjoy this film opening. I thought it was quite cheesy. The way the shots were cut did not seem very clean, and the music didn't go along with what was happening. The classical music in a horror movie typically happens when something creepy is going on. For example, when the camera focuses on a doll, or a haunted object. I do like how the title of the film was typed out though. That looked pretty cool. Dear Lover This opening was also pretty cheesy and wasn't filmed well.       My group members and I have chosen the genre of action and adventure for our film opening project. We chose this genre because we thought we could have a lot of fun with it and it would also be a lot easier to create a quality action film opening than, for example, a horror film opening. I also really enjoy the thrill of action movies. They are typically fast-paced and always keep me on my toes.        One of my favorite Netflix movies, What Happened to Monday, is an action and adventure movie that I'm sure will give me some inspiration when the time comes to create my own film opening. The opening of What Happened to Monday incorporates many aspects of what typically draw me into the storyline of a movie. The movie opens with several scenes of crowded areas like the beach and city streets. These areas are so crowded that the people there can hardly even move. Graphic Organizer Essay Editing, sound, camera shots, and mise-en-scene are all elements that are used to shape a movie's plot. In the first five minutes of Marvel’s Agent Carter, these elements are used to do just that.              To begin, an element that is clearly used in the clip is editing. Within the first few shots, the editor uses parallelism to show that the emotions shown by two characters are similar. By cutting back and forth between Peggy and Steve, the editor showed both sides of the situation during the action. This built perspective created an understanding of emotion. Another editing technique that was used is simultaneity.  Simultaneity was also used when Peggy tied up the man. As the man sat against the wall, the shot switched over to the other three men in a different room. Background: I chose to watch an episode of Criminal Minds (season 5 episode 17) because I love that show and I thought the mise en scene is typically quite obvious. The episode opened with a scene of a man walking towards a house in low-key lighting. The shots switched back between the man and between a woman tucking a little girl into bed. The woman left the room, turned off the lights, and the camera stayed on the little girl while you could hear the man opening the window and coming into the house. This was an example of offscreen space because you knew something was going on outside off the shot, but the action was not shown. The noise of the window opening enlightens the audience of what was going on. Then, the man appeared close up to the camera so that you could see his wardrobe. He was dressed in dark colors, a coat, and wore a hat. This made the man look more suspicious, like he was creeping through the night to kidnap the little girl. My 5 Master Edits with Sound Video:  Click Here 1. Diegetic Sound: I left the diegetic sound for my contrast and symbolism clips because I didn't want to change the mood. For contrast, the clip of my chemistry textbook and the clip of my running log gets the point of contrast across. For symbolism, the diegetic sound of me drinking water and the diegetic sound of my faucet running is the exact symbolism I wanted to convey. 2. Postsynchronization dubbing: I used postsynchronization dubbing for my parallelism clip. The original clip of me running at the meet had no sound, so I decided to add sound of my friend Whitney cheering for me at a different meet. This is an example of nondiegetic sound, but it increases the intensity and authenticity of my symbolism clip. Without sound, the parallelism would not be as powerful. My first video is an example of parallelism. It is from the beginning of an episode of Criminal Minds. It shows a mother at a community event, screaming for her daughter that has just been kidnapped. Then, the scene switches to the mom still standing in the same spot after the event has ended talking to the FBI. This is an example of parallelism because the setting stays the same, but the edit jumps from one point in time to another. This clip is an example of simultaneity. It shows the characters from the show laying out their plan to find Aimee, the lost daughter, while she is being carried into a room by her kidnapper. This is an example of simultaneity because it shows two different events happening at the same time. This clip is an example of contrast. It shows Aimee curled up alone in her bed while on the other side of the wall, utter chaos is happening. A grandma is beating a child that was trying to talk to the girl.
